Looks like Epiphone is about to drop a load of new guitars! Amongst them is a new Epiphone USA Casino hollow-body model featuring P90 pickups; we first heard of this model during Winter NAMM 2020. But that’s not all: images that have turned up on an Epiphone forum suggest that a whole batch of other models might be about to launch too. If the images and information are genuine, the new models will be made outside the USA and offered at substantially lower prices. And they all look amazing! Given Epiphone’s strong Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Custom model, it looks like Epiphone is on a roll!

Epiphone USA Casino
A US-based Epiphone dealer has listed a new previously unreleased Epiphone USA Casino model! It’s loaded with twin P90 pickups and, as the name suggests, is built in the States. It’s a classic hollow-body design and – if the source is correct – will be made available in a Royal Tan or Vintage Burst nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The guitar will have hand-wired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors and Gibson USA P-90 Dogear single-coil pickups, putting it on a par with Gibson-branded American-built models.

1961 Hollow Body
The original ’60s Casino is often associated with players like Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Keith Richards, Ray Davies, Dave Davies, and Paul Weller. When the Casino was launched in 1961, it proved very popular with a lot of British guitarists. It’s great to see them back in US production once more.
The construction is a three ply Maple/Poplar/Maple front, back and sides, along with a solid mahogany C profile 24.75″ neck with an Indian rosewood fretboard loaded with 22 frets. The US dealer site has this guitar listed for $2699, with an Epiphone hard case included in the price. The model doesn’t yet appear on the Epiphone website, so hopefully there will be an official announcement soon.
More upcoming Epiphone models!
But that’s not all. The Epiphonetalk forum yesterday featured a whole glut of images allegedly showing a slew of new upcoming Epiphone models. Unfortunately, there are no detailed specifications or prices for any of these – we can’t verify them as genuine at the time of writing, but if they are the real deal they suggest an exciting future for the Epiphone brand.

ES-335 and more
Among the models purportedly shown in the images are a new Epiphone ES-335, including a version with nice olive green finish that reminds me a lot of the Gibson Chris Cornell signature models. It’s a very nice colour and if these images are genuine I suspect it will prove a popular finish.
Other models shown are an Epiphone Coronet, Crestwood Custom and a Wilshire; a Riviera model with mini-humbuckers and a Nancy Wilson are included, too! All that makes for some great guitars – hopefully these images are the real deal and we will receive some official details from Epiphone on all these enticing models.
